Application Requirements

Applicants must meet all four of the following requirements.

  • (1) Non-Japanese nationality. However, non-Japanese nationals residing in Japan with Permanent Resident status are not eligible.
  • (2) Applicants must meet one of the following three requirements.
    • (a) They have or will have completed 16 years of school education in countries other than Japan by March 2027.
    • (b) They have or will have completed at least 3 years of university education and possess a bachelor’s degree. (Including those expected to be completed by March 2027.)
    • (c) They are recognized as having academic ability equivalent to or higher than the above.
  • (3) Applicants must have, or be able to change to or renew, a status of residence of “Student” at the time of enrollment.
  • (4) Applicants must have sufficient Japanese language ability to study and conduct research at the graduate school. All teaching is done in Japanese, and the master’s thesis must also be written in Japanese.

Examination Schedule and Venue

  • Examination Dates: November 14 and 15, 2026
  • Examination Venue: Musashino Academia Musicae, Ekoda Campus
  • Application Period:
    • Online Application Registration Period: From 10:00, October 7, 2026 to 23:59, October 14, 2026 (JST).
    • Application Documents Submission Period (by mail only): Documents must be postmarked on or after October 7, 2026, and must arrive by October 16, 2026.
  • Announcement of Results: November 18, 2026
